Please join us for shopping with a twist on Friday November 13, 2009 as we present "Comforts of Home"
When I think of the comforts of home, I picture my favorite cup of tea, a fancy creamer for my coffee or a rich cup of cocoa with tiny marshmallows floating on top. Sitting by the fire, with cinnamon scented pine cones added to make just the right smell linger around the front room. Cuddling with Dean or Hanna wrapped in our fleece blankets that my mother made us for Christmas 2 years ago. I see parts of our lives all around us and it makes me feel warm and safe inside. Looking around, I see all of the things we have collected throughout our lives, be it things we have bought or things friends and family have bought for us. Somethings they knew or hoped we would love, we laugh at and treasure them too...The memories we have made together as a family makes me smile. The antiques I have gotten over time while shopping for treasures with my BFF and the ones that were given to me when my Grandmother passed on are some of my favorite things. But there are too many things that a person owns to pick any one thing to say this gives me the comforts of home. I also get comfort every time I look at the paintings my mom has painted us, knowing she is never going to do another one again. I love every year unwrapping the ceramics that I set out for the Holidays that my mom or sisters made me and get shocked each time when I see the year they carved in the bottom of it for me. Comforts of home can be your favorite pin cushion , jewelry box, or the table cloth and napkins that you drag out every year to make everything look just right for your guest. That perfect vase that you found at the swap meet to put your flowers in that you set in the center of your table. I have a few favorite things in each room I enter. My favorite boxes that I keep my lace in, my favorite antique lamp in Hanna's room, the dark green hobnail glass I have collected in my bedroom, and the perfect picture on the wall , in the perfect frame. The smell coming from the kitchen when Hanna and I make our fudge and cookies to give the family members for Christmas..It isn't always our possions that give us comfort. It is having our friends over to laugh about passed stories and play new or old games through the Holidays. No matter what makes you feel comfort in your home I am sure there is always room for one or two more new treasures to be added to the mist.. Or you have a friend that is wanting something special for the holidays. So, I am encouraging you to come and spend this Friday with me and all of my friends at Make Mine Pink for 'The Comforts of Home".... Whats your comforts of Home ??

Last week of Leavenworth week end

The first picture is when you are entering the town, the buildings are all so neat.
Second picture is a Lady that was all decked out selling Red Hat things at a table bazaar.
Third and forth is one of my favorite antique stores. It is 8 miles away in a town called Cashmere and it takes all day to go through it. I am still mad at myself for not bringing home this woman bust I saw for 35.00. I can't get it out of my head sometimes, that I passed it up and wish I could just get in the car and go and get it. But, its 2 hours from here so I just dream of the day when I will be going there again.
The last pictures are of a fifty's restaurant that is next door to Antique Annie's. They have everything all decked out all over the walls. They have the best food to eat and good milkshakes. They have a lot of the older bottled pops for sell there too.
I hope you have enjoyed my trip that Elissa and I went on this summer. I have enjoyed sharing a part of me with all of you.
Come back next week for a blog contest.. I am in the mood for some fun. Kath'

3rd week of my trip to Leavenworth

Two is my BFF Elissa and I shopping. We just came out of the western photo place where we had our pictures taken dressed up as barfly's.
Three is one of the shop owners that we talked to about shopping and MMP for an hour.
Four is Elissa smiling at the waiter that we got at the dinner house we chose to eat at.
Five is the waiter she was smiling at.
The next two pictures are of the room next to us which is called the Sherlock Holmes room and the last one is the couple that let us take their picture, staying in that room. We were on the back porch in our pj's and they came outside to talk to us. We had locked ourselves out of our room with the keys inside. As we sat there in our pj's. And the front desk was locked up for the night..Next week will be the last of my trip. Hope you have enjoyed it so far. Kath'

Show and Tell Monday
This is my first Show and Tell and I am excited to share my getaway to Leavenworth Washington that I took this summer. I am hoping by joining Show and Tell that I will be keeping my Blog up to date and you will learn a little more about me. My girlfriend Elissa and I love to start our trip off with a Hotel room that has a theme to each room and we always choose the wine room. Its not the theme so much that we like but the layout of the room. It has a queen size bed in one room and then a bathroom in the middle and then a wall and another queen bed on the other side. So we are together, but yet we have our own room too. We have our own T.V. to watch and air conditioner to control. Here is the link to go and check it out if you are ever going there to stay. Its right above Starbucks and across the street from the main part of town. You can walk everywhere. http://www.innsbruckerinn.com/ . This Show and Tell will be a four part showing, because of all the pictures I took and would like to share with you. So sit back and relax and enjoy a peek in our room with me over the mountains. Leavenworth is the most outstanding Bavarian village this side of the Atlantic. I will start you off with our room. This is my friend Elissa posing for my blog page..
